Alan O’Brien serves as Chief Operating Officer of Tricon Residential, where he is responsible for overseeing the company’s overall operations. Alan leads all operational activities including resident experience, marketing, leasing, maintenance and construction, and information technology, and is a key partner in establishing the strategic direction of the business.
As Chief Resident Experience Officer from 2014 to 2025, Alan was responsible for oversight of Tricon’s property management business and resident experience. He is recognized as a thought leader and an industry pioneer that helped professionalize the single-family rental industry. Alan served as the Chair of the Operations Committee of the National Rental Home Council (NRHC) until 2024.
Prior to joining Tricon in 2014, Alan worked at a variety of boutique real estate investment companies, including 29th Street Capital, which formed a partnership with Tricon in 2012 to purchase and manage single-family rental homes in California. Before entering real estate, he worked at Ericsson as a telecommunications engineer, with international experience spanning over 50 countries.
Alan received his secondary and university education in Ireland and has a Bachelor of Electronic Engineering degree from the University of Limerick.
